Seals & draughts · Navan & 40 km around
Draughty, rattling or whistling windows and doors
The rubber seals around windows and doors harden, shrink and come loose over the years. When they do, cold air, noise and rattles get in. Often the window or door has also dropped slightly, so it no longer presses against the seal. Fixing both usually stops the draught.

Questions
Common questions
Can you replace the seals on uPVC windows?
Yes. Worn or shrunken seals on uPVC windows and doors can be replaced without changing the frame.
Why does my window rattle when it's closed?
Usually the seals are worn or the window has dropped and no longer closes tight. Adjusting the window and replacing the seals normally fixes it.
Is it worth fixing draughts instead of buying new windows?
Often, yes. If the frames and glass are in good condition, new seals and an adjustment are much cheaper than replacement. We'll tell you honestly if they aren't.
Can you fix a draughty front door?
Yes. Front doors are one of the most common places for draughts, usually from worn seals, a dropped door or a broken letterbox.
